The positive benefits of participation in sports and outdoors recreation activities to health are well documented. Research has identified a wide range of benefits including the improvement of cardiovascular health and the assisting in the growth of strength and balance. A number of popular pastimes include: sports coaching, golf, bowls, bushwalking, strength training, water sports and fishing.

Regular sport and being more physically active offers a number of health-related benefits, can make you feel more energetic and better about yourself, and, of course, provide a great deal of enjoyment. You can increase your level of activity just by:

  • walking more rather than using the car or taking a bus

  • doing more activities around the home and garden and putting a bit more physical effort into doing them

  • getting involved in a regular activity you particularly enjoy, such as dancing or a leisurely swimming.
